Begumgonj Textile Engineering College

A SHORT HISTORY OF BEGUMGONJ TEXTILE ENGINEERING COLLEGE
Textile Engineering College, Begumgonj Noakhali has a historical background. During the British colonial rule from 1911 to 1929, thirty three peripatetical Weaving School was established in East Bangle to meet Technical by offering Artisan level course of 6 months duration. Textile Engineering College, Begumgonj Noakhali is one of them which was establish in1918. In 1968 it was upgraded to District Weaving school offering 1- years course and in 1981 District Textile Institute offerering 2- years Certificate course in Textile Technology. But the Certificate course was not acceptable to the industry. In 1994 a 3- year Diploma course was introduced under Bangladesh Technical Education Board which treated as a mile stone for the Textile Education. Duration of this course was extended to 4- years in 2001.
In order tomeet the challenge of increasing demand of new sophisticated & latest technology, Government decided to upgrade this to B.Sc. in Textile Engineering College in 2006 to offer B.Sc. in Textile Engineering Course affiliated by the Chittagong University.
