2.2 Course Contents
The course is designed in such a way that it includes a set of theoretical subjects, practical works, industrial training & viva-voce. It covers core and allied subjects.
FRIST YEAR
The first year syllabus consists of pure science in addition to some basic concepts of Textile Engineering. The subjects offered in the first year are as follow:

2.3 Academic Year and Medium of instruction
This course will cover 4 academic years, but in no cases it will be extended more then 6 years. The medium of Instruction shall be in English.
2.4 Career Prospects
The technological knowledge and skills of our graduates are highly valued by textile manufacturing companies. The industry realizes that its future prospects depend on the quality of its technology and efficient management, because the quality of products and productivity play a vital role in export market. The majority of our graduates find suitable employment in the Textile Manufacturing Industry. Recently gradates have found employment in the areas of production Management, Design, Textile Testing & Quality Assurance, New Product Development, Buying House, Commercial Banks, customs etc.
3. ADMINISTRATIVE AND AFFILIATING AUTHORITIES :
The Textile Engineering College operates under the administrative control of department of Textiles, Ministry of Textile & jute, Government of the peoples republic of Bangladesh .
The Textile Engineering College is affiliated to the University of Chittagong , and its academic affairs including examinations are controlled by the rules and regulations of the University of Chittagong .
The Principal of the head of the college, who is supported by the faculty members, officers and non-teaching staffs.
4. PRACTICAL SHED, WORSHOP AND LABORATORY :
Practical shed, Workshop and Laboratories of the College are equipped with necessary machinery and equipments.
4.1 Yarn Manufacturing Laboratory
This shed Provides Practical knowledge regarding the yarn preparing technology. The laboratory facility includes both conventional and modern machinery.
4.2 FABRIC MANAUFACTURING LABORATORY :
4.2.1 Weaving Laboratory
This shed has the facility to weave cotton, synthetic and jute fabrics including tappet, dobby and jacquard loom, hand operated loom, ordinary power loom, automatic power loom and modern loom with CAD system. Modern looms include air-jet & rapier loom.
4.2.2 Knitting Laboratory
This laboratory is equipped with Weft and Warp knitting machinery. Weft knitting machines include circular 9single jersey, double jersey, rib, jaoquard) flat knitting machine & V-bed machine
4.4. Wet Processing Laboratory
This laboratory is equipped with sample dyeing; sample printing and washing machine .Necessary machine will be procured under the development project of the college.
4.5 Garments manufacturing Laboratory
Garments laboratory is equipped with all types of cutting, sewing and fishing machinery used in garment industry.
4.6 Fashion and Laboratory
This will be the new department for the college. Necessary machines and equipments will procured for operation of department under deployment project.
4.6 Testing and quality control Laboratory
This laboratory is with equipped with conventional and modern testing including Evenness Tester. Testing laboratory has the testing facilities for essential test of fiber, yarn and fabrics.
4.7 Computer Laboratory
To build up the students for the new millennium well equipped computer laboratory provides facilities for convenient practical class. Within a very short time net working and internet system will be developed.
4.8 Physics Laboratory
Physics laboratory is well e quipped with equipments suitable for under graduate class.
4.9 Chemistry Laboratory
The existing Chemistry laboratory is suittable for practical test purpose.
4.10 Engineering Workshop
Engineering workshop is equipped with lathe machine, shapping machine, cutting machine, drill machine, welding machine and various types of tools.
5. ACCOMODATIONS :
At present there is accommodation facilities for the male students in the college campus. There is a hostel of 60 students capacity. Female students have limited residential facilities in the college.
6. LIBRARY
The college has a very rich collection of technical and non-technical books. The library remains open on all working days from 8.00 AM to 6.00 PM. Library access is open to all teacher, students and staff.
7. STUDENTS ACTIVITY
The Textile Engineering College is planning to make an debate club. Science & Cultural Club is run by the students, which will arrange frequent meetings and seminars, workshop video show, blood donation, exhibition etc.
8. STUDENT COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE SERVICES
The student counseling is an integral part of the academic program. For this purpose there will be a co-ordinating teacher for each year who will look after the students affairs. The college administration plays a great role in the placement of our graduates in suitable jobs. There is a close link with all of our ex-students to help the students through counseling.
9. MEDICAL SERVICE :
The medical service of this college will include a medical centre with one full time doctor & a medical assistant. The students will be examinated free of cost as and when necessary. Teachers, officers and other employees will also get free medical advice.
10. STIPEND :
Sixty percent of the total students will get stipend on the basis of merit at the rate of TK. 150/- per month & 1000/- for purchase of books per year from the project.
11. INDUSTRIAL LINKAGE :
The college has close link with the Textile Industry, different professional & related associations. Students will be placed to the industrial attachment for two months as a part of the course.
